Hello~! This is Haru! I'm not here! Leave a message~! ❤
alienangler: (♓ I'll go sailin')
Haru is anything but human, even if he looks it. He's a member of an extraterrestrial species who also are, well...essentially shape shifting fish. Sounds ridiculous but it's true. This, of course, means he has a bunch of abilities that humans wouldn't possess. Some of these abilities are a little godmod, so for sake of ease, here's a small little permission post for these two specific abilities!

+ Haru's species are able to control any living creature with water. Not even their own species are able to not be controlled in the same fashion. Haru carries around a squirt gun filled with water and when he hits a person with water, he can make them do anything he wants in theory. Thankfully because his race is stupid, they're more fond of making people dance rather than making them do anything awful or harmful . Essentially if a living creature, whether it be a duck or human is in water or wet, Haru can technically control them. His influence however only extends up to a certain range, the max extension of his yellow triangle halo.

+ Telepathy. Haru's species is able to communicate through telepathy. Following the same vein, Haru's able to hear other people's thoughts like he demonstrated once with Yuki. There doesn't seem to be a limit to this, for when blasting into space Haru was saying goodbye to Kate, Yuki's grandmother, telepathically.

So, please let me know if you're okay with either nor not, if your characters would be affected or not and all that jazz. Thanks!

Also, Haru has a little glowy yellow halo that's a triangle that floats above his head all the time. However, only humans five and under and animals can see this halo. I would assume non humans would also be able to see it. Please let me know if this is the case!

Lastly, if your character is a non human usually, or a shapeshifter/has an alternate form that isn't human (think ahiru from Princess Tutu - she's really a duck, or Shijima from Nabari no Ou who's a cat) Haru will probably pick up on this. It's important for me to know because being, well a fish, he's scared shitless of ducks and cats for example.

Annnd I think that's it. Thank you in advance!

FILL THIS OUT FOR EASE!

Character Personality:

While Haru may look like a normal human teenager on the outside, he's anything but. Not only is he an alien from some unnamed planet, but he's also technically a fish, and if that doesn't sound weird enough, it's about to get worse.

Blond and with bright purple eyes, Haru is almost always smiling. He's chipper, loud, a bit on the irritating side, and worms his way into everything. Friendly almost to a fault, all Haru wants to do is have a good time and save the world from JFX, another alien like him and his sister responsible for the Bermuda Triangle effect. Since JFX has spent so much time in the sea, he's incredibly powerful when it comes to controlling minds. Thus any unfortunate sailors or pilots who stray into the range of his influence become part of JFX's hoard. This includes fish too. In fact, it includes anything that's living really.

Entrusted with this mission Haru doesn't waste any time getting straight to work. Clearly, if him and his sister want to save the world from JFX, they're just going to have to fish him out of the ocean. That's easier said than done, however.

Why?

Well, that's because Haru can't fish.

That's all right though, because Haru had a plan, and that plan ended up relying on a certain redhead named Yuki. It should be made clear that Haru's choice of Yuki as the chosen one, more or less, was made entirely on an impulsive whim when he saw the red haired boy speed by in his grandma's red car. Red hair and a red vehicle sealed the deal when Haru spotted Yuki - there really wasn't much other than that influencing his choice. Red is an irresistible color to Haru's species - they're incredibly fond of it - and in a little seaside town called Enoshima a redhead is going to stick out like a sore thumb amongst mostly brunette residents. This isn't the first time Haru's impulsive and it certainly isn't the last. He simply does what he wants and what suits him best. It isn't exactly that Haru is selfish, in fact he has a pretty big heart, but his actions come across as self serving.

Why?

Because Haru lacks tact. An incredible amount of it.

Tactless to a fault, Haru stalks Yuki to his home and simply declares to his grandmother Kate that he'll be living with them while Yuki is out to school. No please or thank you escapes his mouth - he quite literally writes his name on the sign outside the house where Yuki's name is written. For whatever reason, Kate agrees to let Haru stay and the alien sets off to enroll in school. Once again, his own weirdness is completely lost on him when he storms into the classroom with a fishing rod, introducing himself in very choppy Japanese and with awful grammar, declaring himself as an alien bluntly.

Clearly, Haru isn't very good at making first impressions.

In fact, he sucks at it. He stalks Yuki, follows him everywhere, nags him to fish, whines and complains when Yuki doesn't do what he wants to do and quite literally controls him with water he shoots him with from his green squirt gun. Despite this, the two of them become the best of friends at the end of it all - Yuki coming out of his shell from his crippling social anxiety and Haru eventually learns how to act a bit more human.

Speaking of being human, Haru for the most part, is really awful at acting the part. While he possesses emotions he doesn't understand the names for them or the human equivalents. It takes quite awhile for him to learn and even then he still makes a blunder of himself. He says inconsiderate things from now and then; when Yuki's grandmother was in the hospital, Haru thought he was being comforting when he told Yuki that it was okay because everything dies eventually. Obviously the comment was anything but appreciated. Comments like these aren't made to be mean, but simply made out of ignorance. Understanding humans is hard, especially their reasoning for things, but that doesn't mean that Haru wants to go out of his way to hurt anyone or their feelings. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

To Haru, everyone should be happy and smiling always. Whether they're dancing or fishing, keeping his friends happy is something that's extremely important to Haru. One would think that being so weird, he wouldn't have any at all, but he manages to make quite a few and each and every one of them he loves with all his heart. While Coco his younger sister doesn't really seem to care much either way for humans, even if she certainly can enjoy herself with them, she doesn't love humanity like Haru does.

In fact, he loves everyone so much, that he's willing to make himself the scapegoat for JFX's ever expanding effect, scaring everyone off the island of Enoshima by shooting his watergun wildly and screaming at everyone. He's willing to sacrifice himself to JFX's hoard by luring him away from humans to the middle of the ocean. The thought of course isn't something Haru's okay with - it makes him incredibly sad and anxious and it shows - but he makes up his mind that it's the only way to deal with the situation and save everyone he loves. Thankfully for his sake, Yuki finds him and slaps some sense into him - quite literally - and along with their other two friends manage to fish JFX out of the ocean and save the day.

When it comes to self expression, Haru is unbridled. He has no qualms about jumping on people, yelling and screaming ecstatically, or rubbing up against them. He's naturally awkward in the way he moves, sometimes walking in a march or running arms outstretched at his unfortunate target. Despite this, he's rather coordinated, which comes at a surprise considering how weird he is. He's able to kick around and balance a soccer ball on his head with ease and run around with Coco's fishbowl atop his head, for example. Being so open comes with a price however - when Haru's upset or uncertain, it shows, despite how badly he tries to hide it with a smile. The more anxious or unsure he is, the less eye contact he makes and the more quirky he seems. He's already bad at eye contact to begin with, for whatever reason, but it certainly gets worse with anxiety.

All in all, Haru just wants to have a good time, dance and fish and smile for the rest of his days with his friends. Sometimes he can be a little thick headed and not understand a thing or two, but he's generally a good listener and if someone tells him not to do something, if it makes them sad or unhappy with him, he won't. As long as he can make someone smile, intentionally or not, he'll be happy.

Character Abilities:

Haru is anything but human, even if he looks it. He's a member of an extraterrestrial species who also are, well...essentially shape shifting fish. Sounds ridiculous but it's true. This, of course, means he has a bunch of abilities that humans wouldn't possess.

+ The ability to breathe under water, swim really fast and turn into a betta fish.
+ Haru's species are able to control any living creature with water. Haru carries around a squirt gun filled with water and when he hits a person with water, he can make them do anything he wants in theory. Thankfully because his race is stupid, they're more fond of making people dance rather than making them do anything awful. Essentially if a living creature, whether it be a duck or human is in water, Haru can technically control them.
+ Sonic/Sonaresque psybeam. When fighting JFX, Haru and Coco shoot out what look like psybeams from their mouths that cause an explosion underwater. They also shoot out beams that don't cause an explosion, but more of a force to push someone back.

[Other important stuff]

+ Only humans under the age of five and animals are able to see Haru's triangle halo. (Non-human species are in theory probably able to see it as well.)
+ Being a betta fish, more or less, Haru has a fear of cats and ducks. This probably extends to other animal species who are known for eating fish.
+ Haru's species (and in turn himself) are also very fond of the color red.
+ Haru's species needs water to survive. If they dry out, they'll die.
+ Haru seems to have a fondness for heights.

Character Inventory: His school uniform and green water gun.

Introspective Sample

It was hot. This wasn't the first time Haru had found himself feeling high and dry in Saeng Seong. It was summer, after all, and with summer came heat and the threat of drying out. Of course, that wouldn't be too bad if his squirt gun hadn't run out of water, but unfortunately for Haru it had. Haru was kicking himself - quite literally. He should've brought a bottle of water along with him on his walk but he'd been too excited to go out and fish to even think of doing so. Why he'd ventured out in the hot sun without much water to begin with was for one very simple reason:

Haru wanted to fish.

He'd been trying to find the river, (someone had told him there was one around and where there was a river, there'd be fish!) but had found himself at a loss, having lost himself amongst buildings and shops that littered the streets he was dragging himself down. A low whine squeezed from his throat as the alien's arms sagged at his sides as he wiggled them. He was going to melt if this went on for any longer. Melt right away! Some of the other residents were looking at him strangely as he wiggled, dragging his feet against the pavement, but their looks went unnoticed. Being stared at was normal for Haru. He was rather weird, after all.

Then-! Right before him! A fountain in the middle of a square! Oh how glorious of a discovery! "Ah! A fountain!" If his voice hadn't made his finding clear enough, his finger jutted in its direction would've. Immediately Haru made a beeline toward the fountain, arms outstretched at his sides as he ran for it, the fishing pole in his other hand nearly knocking a man down. Into the fountain he went, shrieking with excitement, tossing the pole aside as he splashed into the water, rolling around in it contentedly. Ahhh, water. It felt glorious. People had stopped to stand and stare as he sat in it, splashing himself and giggling, leaning down to blow the occasional bubble.

Everything, for now, was good.

Now only if he could just find that river...
